As I have briefly mentioned in my previous blog about the gifting, I have followed Korean pop-culture since I was very young, as there was a huge K-pop trend in Japan during the 2010s. It started with me admiring them singing and dancing, however, as I grew older I began to notice their unique and contemporary creative directions, ranging from their music, music videos, stage designs, costumes, editing, album artworks, merchandises, and many more. They are one of the reasons why I got interested in the world of graphic design. It may sound silly for some people, but I genuinely adore the passion and long hard work put into each song release — the idea of people from various fields working to achieve something together — fascinated me, made me want to be involved. I’ve always kept it to myself, but my dream is to work in their industry. Despite the stressful workload and side effects it may come with, I’d love to experience working for the K-POP industry in some way.
I always found this dream a little embarrassing to say it out loud, however, if anyone is reading this blog — you’re allowed to know what it is!
Gifting to Jennie is one of the highlights of working at Fruity Booty. She hasn’t worn the pieces yet (which is understandable, as she’s the most influential person right now and she receives countless gifts from loads of brands!) and it’s not “me” that has led to Jennie, but this experience has allowed me to dream again.
When I talked to Ansel about this, he said something similar to “You’re getting a step closer to something/someone you’ve dreamed about”. This gave me confidence that if I dream and work towards it, someday my dream could come true?
“You remember when you first listened to their song, where you were, what it was.” Which I do! He made me notice how much impact they had on me, which I hadn’t really acknowledged. It was very moving, as me in 2017 at a summer camp listening to Blackpink for the first time, would never guess what’s happening to me in 7 years.
In Japan, there’s a word “言霊” “Kotodama” which refers to a concept of the “power of words” or the “soul of words”. It means that words have a spiritual power to influence the environment, mind, people and soul. In recent years, Kotodama is often used as a concept for people wanting to achieve their goal — by saying it out loud and using the power of Kotodama, it’s said that you could attract what you want.
So, since I have written about my dream here, I’m manifesting that the power of Kotodama (and my hard work of course) will attract good things and lead me to where I want to be ★
