To me, “Lucky” is an affirmation I’ve been practicing since my first year of university. Affected by my very worrying, always anxious state of mind, whenever I feel that way I look into the mirror and tell myself “I’m lucky and I’m grateful. Everything I’m worried about right now will be fine, everything will be okay. Because I’m lucky” repeatedly until I brainwash myself. This method (?) helps me get through everyday life and during the pre-DPS period, I heavily relied on this affirmation because I was super anxious – and by telling myself that “I’m lucky”, I felt like I was actually a very lucky person.
I talked about this concept of “lucky” with Ansel during out 1 on 1 tutorial, as I had a couple of events where I felt not-so-lucky. Talking to Ansel about these events and my feelings helped me move on from them and feel more relieved. (I would constantly think about these before I go to sleep) This is when I realised I never really talk about my feelings to anyone – I felt “lucky” to have someone I could talk to!
2025 has begun! My resolution for this year in DPS is to find a balance between placement work and DPS-related work while enjoying this process – realisation that this phase of my life is very precious.
<Wi-Fi incident>
This is one of the not-so-lucky events at the start of 2025: I didn’t have to, but I decided to work in the office by myself (I had to finish something at the office). When I got to the office the wi-fi was completely dead, my mobile data was dead, and I panicked! I asked for help but all I could do was wait, and eventually, I cried to borrow the wifi from the management office to pay for my mobile data. I don’t know why I cried, it might have been because of a series of these small not-so-lucky events, but there was a takeaway from this incident — to ask for help and not overdo myself just because I want to prove myself. I didn’t have to go to the office in the first place!
<Linesheets>
My focus for the start of January was working on the linesheet – which is a catalog-like document showcasing the brand identity and its collections to wholesalers, who would then use that document to decide on which items to purchase and sell for retail.

The task was simple, I just had to input the images and product information – but because it would be handed to a wholesaler which is very important to the brand (as it could lead to our product being sold at various shops, leading to sales growth and wider public recognition of the brand) I had to triple check for mistakes, constantly communicating and going through with the team to discuss which product should be included or removed. Working on the linesheets, I gained an overall understanding of what the next collection would look like and it made me excited!
<Sensitivity and ads>
The team was discussing properly launching Google ads for increased traffic. However, because the hero page of our website had an image of a thong, it couldn’t be approved as it was too revealing –> could be considered sensitive/inappropriate. Therefore I recreated another hero page, and I learnt how difficult it must be to run a lingerie brand – even if we’re not advertising anything inappropriate or sexual, it could be considered that just because of one imagery. I think this links to a perception of lingerie by society – it is not always something sexual, but rather an everyday product that could be presented excitingly.

The product page I got to work on!
