It’s almost the end of the year and the first term! It passed by quickly, but when I think about September or October when I was so anxious about DPS and started interning, it feels like a long ago. I wanted to write about my end-of-the-year reflection and what I’ve been up to, now that I’m used to working. Also, I decided to slow down the pace of writing my blogs, picking up a few key points from time to time as I didn’t want this process to be stressful.
- As usual, I’ve been responsible for packing, organising, and dispatching the giftings. I’m trying to stay organised as the whole process could be confusing, and I thought the significant mindset to this is to not be too “comfortable/used” to the process. I want to maintain having that little nervousness that forces me to stay cautious, carefully checking through everything.
- I’ve started managing their Pinterest account! This is super exciting as I’ve always used Pinterest but never had the chance to post any content, and thought it would be an interesting experience to have the opportunity to manage a business account. For Fruity Booty, I saw Pinterest as a platform to curate the brand’s creative vision, sharing images from campaigns that did not have the chance to be seen on Instagram or in ads. (The image selection for Instagram posts is always carefully planned!)

- When posting, I tried to choose images that would intrigue me as the audience. Understanding the customer base and maintaining the tone of voice was important again, and this helped me refine them too – I noticed that how I perceive Fruity Booty as a brand has been slightly changing since the beginning, and I started to really understand their tone. Not only using the brand campaign image, I tried to mix in inspirations or images that represent the mood of the campaign to create a mood board-like feeling, and not entirely commercial. I wanted to create Pinterest as a platform for our audience to see our creating vision and inspiration, “curating a virtual experience of Fruity Booty” in a way.
- One of the main platforms for our ads is Pinterest, thus I thought it was important to have lots of content that speak our brand identity for the audience who still does not know Fruity Booty
- I’m also continuing to backlog and organise the UGC drive. I want to finish updating all the UGC (from SS23 to AW24) before the end of the year. Seeing all the contents of people wearing/styling Fruity products is truly enjoyable, as I can examine what item is popular and how it could be styled, which I could bring onto Pinterest. For example, Broderie Dress and Broderie Bloomer have gained a lot of attention on Pinterest with lots of saves. Therefore I decided to bring that to Pinterest to engage more audiences.
- We had a group coaching session with Sophie Beeley, who oversees how the business is organised and run, training to be a business coach for women. It was my first time learning about the business coach, who basically helps business owners and their organisation to develop an increased sense of purpose, motivation & fulfillment, clarity of vision, thought, new perspectives, increased confidence, improved performance, and self-awareness (a lot!)
- I was not sure what it was about at first, but we discussed our weaknesses and strengths as a team and where we see ourselves next year. It almost felt like a therapy session which I quite enjoyed 🙂 Actually saying my weakness out loud helped me organise my thoughts a bit, and I learnt the importance of telling someone my weakness. I don’t do this often, but I felt better reassured about my insecurity.
- Talking about strengths also felt very pleasant – I felt proud and grateful that there are people who appreciate what I do. (the team referred me as more than an intern, a guardian angel, backbone <3) I also felt proud of Fruity Booty, celebrating how caring, talented, and hard-working the team is. I feel very lucky to work here again, and I am glad that I had the opportunity to share this feeling with others!
- I had an end-of-year performance review with Hattie, the founder, and the placement supervisor. We discussed my strengths and things to improve, something I want to achieve before leaving the placement.
- Strength: able to work across the field, is calm even when things are hectic (eg; pop up), my work is above expectation, on time & high quality, hard-working
- Improve/Goal: sell all Depop stock, share my opinion during the fitting and meeting, create content for the broidery bra that I designed the pattern for, help plan something in Japan
- The reviewing session gave me confidence! I never referred to/thought of myself as a hard-working person, but perhaps I am… 😀 I want to give credit where I deserve it!
- Again, I feel so blessed to be working at Fruity Booty with amazing people. Sometimes I wonder if I deserve it. But because I have this opportunity, I will do my very best until the end! Setting out these goals through the review helped me create a clearer direction and I feel passionate to achieve them!
- I don’t think I have talked about Jennie! I’ve been a fan of K-pop since middle school, and Blackpink is one of the first K-pop groups I ever got into. So when I saw an email about sending a gift to Jennie’s stylist team I was super excited, it was surreal. Because Meen, who’s from Korea was on holiday, I reached out to the team about writing a message myself – as I’ve been slowly learning Korean, influenced by my joy for Korean culture. I’m not sure if she will read it, or if she will wear our products, but I hope she will! This is definitely my personal highlight – an opportunity I never expected or experienced if I hadn’t joined Fruity Booty. 🙂
