After multiple meetings with Hattie, the founder of Fruity Booty, she suggested I come in for a trial day to experience what kind of work is expected of an intern, get to know how everyone works, and meet the group. I thought this was a great opportunity to understand the placement and if I would like to proceed with doing the internship.
I was super nervous on the trial day. It was my first ever internship or being in an office environment, and I was very worried that I would be confused/lost and not effectively spend the opportunity given. However, everyone in the office was very welcoming and kind, which helped me a lot to loosen up and calm down.
The tasks for that day were
- Creating a mood board for the print patterns that could be used for the Valentine’s Day collection, gathering research, and brainstorming
- Planning presentations for the proposal they were planning

Above is the mood board I created based on the inspiration/concept references done by Jazz, the creative director. Focusing on the 19th-century Valentine’s Day theme, I collected a variety of references from vintage lingerie to tile patterns. This process was truly enjoyable as it is something I love creating and receiving positive feedback from the team also gave me confidence. ๐
I felt extremely grateful for everyone who supported and took care of me, and through this trial, I definitely recognised my wish to get a placement at Fruity Booty. This brought me back to when Sam asked me whether I would be sad if I couldn’t get this placement – which I surely would have. Although concerns were floating in my mind, I was happy that I challenged myself to where I was.
